Leigh Stenberg
I am currently serving as a Community and Organizational Development Volunteer in Chisinau, Moldova with the United States Peace Corps. I work with both the Institute of Penal Reform and VITA, a non-governmental organization which helps children with multiple-disabilities, with their strategic planning, organizational development and volunteer corps. Additionally, I co-facilitated a civic education club in the village of Vasieni, which over a course of a year, not only interactively taught the core goals of civic education program, but encouraged civic activism. As a result, the club was able to receive funding from the district council to install the first cross-walks in town in front of the two schools. Before Peace Corps, I worked for five years at EADS North America in the Government Relations office. While my first years were spent on national politics, I increasingly started to work on local political initiatives with business leaders and became hooked on community development initiatives.
I was born in the United States, but grew up in Jakarta, Indonesia and have also lived in Nanjing, China. I love to travel, read, bike and cook ethic meals.
